(Photo by Jeff Bottari\u002FZuffa LLC)\n\nJohnny Walker’s heavyweight experiment is going very well so far.\n\nFollowing a huge knockout in his debut, Walker followed that up with another emphatic finish over Waldo Cortes Acosta in the UFC Vegas 124 main event on Saturday.\n\nWalker delivered with an explosive combination of punches in the third round that put Cortes Acosta down and out with no chance to get up again. The end came at 2:27 in the third round with Walker now moving to 2-0 as a heavyweight in the UFC.\n\nJOHNNY WALKER OUT OF NOWHERE 🤯🤯\n\n[ #UFCVegas124 | LIVE on @paramountplus ] pic.twitter.com\u002FdDtCV8gLWC\n\n— UFC on Paramount+ (@UFConParamount) November 8, 2026\n\n“Thank you,” Walker shouted after the win. “Without a heavy guy like this who could take a punch, it wouldn’t be a good fight. F*ck everybody who said I had no chin. Who don’t have a chin now? This was just to prove to everyone.”\n\nWalker opened with several nasty leg kicks with Cortes Acosta in hot pursuit. Cortes Acosta eventually backed Walker against the cage where he unleashed a barrage of shots with a punch putting his opponent down briefly.\n\nWhile Walker kept chipping away with those kicks, Cortes Acosta was constantly moving forward and throwing heavy punches. With less than 10 seconds remaining in the opening round, Walker and Cortes Acosta threw caution to the wind and just started slugging it out until the horn sounded.\n\nWalker kept up with the leg kicks in round two while Cortes Acosta was gunning for the knockout with every punch. When Cortes Acosta got aggressive with his combinations, Walker countered with a spinning back elbow to fend off the attacks.\n\nCortes Acosta eventually unleashed a hard overhand right and ultimately ended up on top of Walker on the ground during a scramble. While Cortes Acosta maintained control, he wasn’t mounting much damage as the round came to an end.\n\nAt the start of round three, Cortes Acosta opened with another overhand right that definitely got Walker’s attention. Walker fired back with a hard shot of his own.\n\nAs the battle continued, Walker finally uncorked a head kick followed by unorthodox back fist that had Cortes Acosta wobbled. Walker wasted no time following up with a brutal combination that put Cortes Acosta down and out for good.\n\nConsidering Walker took this fight on extremely short notice, he deserves a lot of credit for taking out a top 10 heavyweight in Cortes Acosta. Walker has always been a prospect worth watching but he may have finally found his best home as a heavyweight in the UFC.","Damon Martin",[40,25],"rss"]
